Camp Limberlost2013 SUMMER CAMP SCHEDULE

Easter Seals’ Timber Pointe Outdoor Center (TPOC) is a beautiful 160-acre facility located on Lake Bloomington, in Hudson Illinois.  Designed to offer specialized, inclusive, and adapted programming to meet the needs of individual campers; TPOC provides a unique resource for the Central Illinois community.  Summer week long Residential Camp and Day Camp Sessions offer participants a broad range of fun-filled recreational activities, great meals, and attentive care and supervision.  Traditional Camp activities include boating, swimming, arts & crafts, woodworking, zip-line, horseback riding, barn yard critters, fishing, talent show, dance, and more! 

June 9-14 - C.I.T. Leadership Program - Ages 15-17

The Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) program is designed to introduce interested youth to the exciting and rewarding world of being a camp counselor.   We are looking for individuals who feel inspired to work with campers who have a disability, are mature enough to put the needs of the campers above their own, and are positive role models for the campers.  This program allows youth to build on skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication and problem-solving.  Those who successfully complete the C.I.T. Program will be eligible to volunteer for a week of summer camp and serve on the TPOC Summer 2013 Junior Team.

June 9-14 - Infinity - Ages 7-13 - Infinity & Beyond - Ages 14-22   - REGISTRATION CLOSED                      

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is a physical disability.  Campers will participate in traditional camp activities as well as have the opportunity to select from a broad range of activities based on individual interests.  Some of these opportunities include camping in a tent, cooking over a fire, night hikes, socializing with the barn yard critters, woodworking, etc.   Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities. 

June 9-14 -   Princess Powder Puff - Ages 7-13 - Powder Puff - Ages 14-22 - REGISTRATION CLOSED

An overnight camp for girls with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.  Powder Puff has been designed to encourage campers to rely on strength and friends, build self-confidence, face challenges head-on, and believe in themselves.  A visit from Abbey Curran…Miss Iowa USA 2008 and the first woman with a disability to compete in the national Miss USA pageant, will be an extra special treat!  There will also be plenty of time for some of your other camp favorites as well!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 9-14 - Rising Star - Ages 7-13 - Shining Star - Ages 14-22 - Shooting Star - Ages 23 & Up - REGISTRATION CLOSED

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is Down Syndrome or another intellectual disability.  This adventure will be focused on expressing and exploring your creative spirit through music, dance, painting, storytelling, acting, and more.  There will also be plenty of time for your other camp favorites as well!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 9-14 - Trail Blazer - Ages 7-13 - Trail Blazer Unlimited - Ages 14-22

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is ADHD.  Join us for a week of WILD fun!! We will sneak around and search for clues, splash-out at the pool, hike in the wilderness, sleep in tree hammocks and pole tents, sing around the campfire, and lots more!!  There will also be plenty of time for your other camp favorites as well!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 16-21 - Rugged Wilderness - Ages 7-13 heavy-duty - Rugged Wilderness X-treme - Ages 14-22 - Rugged Wilderness Mania - Ages 23 & Up

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is an intellectual and/or physical disability or a sensory impairment.  Deep into the Timber Pointe Forest we will go with our pod hammocks, pole tents, kettles and more!  We will explore the woods, fish from the shore, cook over a fire, and sleep under the stars.  There will also be time for traditional camp activities!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 17-22 - Penguin Project Camp - Ages 10 & UP

An overnight camp for young artists with disabilities and their friends.  Programs will be centered on singing, dancing, and traditional camp activities.  Campers’ families will be invited to a musical revue at the end of camp.  For camp registration use Timber Pointe Outdoor Center Application.  For more information about the Penguin Project visit:  http://www.penguinproject.org/

June 23-28 - Discover Zone - Ages 7-13 - Discover Zone & More - Ages 14-22

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is Asperger’s Syndrome. This adventure is designed to spark imagination and creativity!  Campers will construct kites, design robots, sing, sculpt with clay, paint with water colors, act out storytelling, wet-felt, woodwork, explore in the woods, and more.  There will also be time for traditional camp favorites!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 23-28 - A Circle of Friends - Ages 7-13 - A Circle of Forever Friends - Ages 14-22

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is Autism.  This adventure focuses on play designed to enhance peer relations, interpersonal communication skills, problem solving abilities, and a variety of related skills.  Singing, dancing, rhythm instruments, clay modeling, finger-painting, puppet shows, and more will make this a fun-filled expedition.   There will also be time for traditional camp favorites!  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 30-July 5 - Night Owl - Ages 18 & Up - REGISTRATION CLOSED, call the office for alternative Night Owl dates. (309) 365-8021.

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is an intellectual and/or physical disability, or a sensory impairment.  Stay up late, no alarms needed!  Sleep in, hang out, visit with new and old friends, participate in your favorite Board Game Tournament, sing around a campfire, camp out, and enjoy all of your favorite traditional camp activities.  Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 30-July 5 - E.S.C.A.P.E. - Ages 7-13 - E.S.C.A.P.E. - Ages 14-22 - REGISTRATION CLOSED

An overnight camp for individuals whose primary diagnosis is an intellectual disability or sensory impairment.   This program is focused on… EXPLORING, SOCIALIZING, CREATING, ACCOMPLISHING, PIONEERING, and EMPOWERING campers to be self-confident and independent, while providing a powerful week of summer camp.   There will be lots of time for traditional camp favorites as well!   Campers will be placed in cabin groups according to individual needs, interests, and abilities.

June 3-August 9 - Day Camp - Ages 4-13

Day Camp has been designed for parents who are seeking an alternative to summer day care, and for kids who are looking for a summer adventure in the great outdoors.   Nine exciting weeks make up the 2013 Summer Day Camp program.  Campers will have the opportunity to…ride horses, swing on the zip-line, hang out with the barn-yard critters, ride a wagon, boat, swim, fish, roast S’mores, wood-work, craft-out, discover nature. Learn crazy songs, and more!!!  Choose ONE WEEK…or better yet…choose them ALL!!!  Day Camp programming is available for children with or without a disability.
