A Family of Services

Our innovative programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and highly trained staff deliver results for the individuals we serve, and their families. Easter Seals maintains an outcome measurement system in all areas of direct program service provision and communicates results on a regular basis to its staff, board of directors, and other stakeholders. In fiscal year 2012, 99% of children served demonstrated developmental progress, 99% of families reported that realistic goals were discussed and set, 96% of families reported that staff gave them a good understanding of their child’s needs, abilities, and potential, 81% of children served met their treatment goals, and 95% of families reported that services were beneficial and expectations were met.

We make a difference in the lives of thousands of people with special needs each year—teaching new skills, building confidence and pride, and giving new hope for the future.  Our mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that people with disabilities and their families have equal opportunity to live, learn, work and play in their communities.

All treatment and intervention services at Easter Seals are based on functional outcomes rather than delays or specific diagnoses.  Functional outcomes are clear statements about "real-life" skills that are written in family-friendly language and reflect the changes that families want to see for their chilren and themselves.  They are designed to maximize a child's practical skills (movement, feeding, dressing, communications, etc.) and his/her participation in family and community activities.  They provide a clear focus and direction for all our interventions.

The staff at Easter Seals will help you identify your priorities for intervention, and guide you in creating the most appropriated functional outcomes for you child and family.  These are determined by your concerns and the treatment team's assessment of your child's skills.  The outcomes derived from these priorities are specific to your child's needs.  These outcomes will then help us determine which type of therapists will be included on the treatment team, the frequency and intensity of services, and the location of services.  We will also communicate with schools and other community providers regarding your child's outcomes to make certain that your child's treatment is comprehensive and coordinated.

Easter Seals recognizes that families are the first and best lifelong teachers of their children.  Therefore, a family's participation in the therapeutic process is both essential and critical.  Children will make minimal gains if the only intervention is provided in the therapy session.  To ensure that your childs has the best chance of meeting his/her outcomes, our therapists will provide you with specifice "home program" of activities to be carried out during daily routines on a regular basis.  The therapist will monitor your child's progress, and change your home program as your child improves.

Easter Seals provides treatment and interventions that are guided by established practices, based on the best scientific information available, as well as new and promising alternatives.  While we emphasize treatments that are based on scientific research, we also try to stay on the "cutting edge" of less proven treatment options and support those options that we feel are safe and may be helpful.

Parent Handbook

Pediatric Therapy - Easter Seals offers a broad array of evaluations and on-going therapy services to help children with disabilities learn to function more independently in their environments.  Therapy services include: Speech-Language Therapy, Feeding Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Counseling Services, Birth-to-Three Developmental Screening, Aquatic Therapy and much more.

The Autism Program at Easter Seals- Easter Seals offers comprehensive services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders including Autism Diagnostic Clinic, D.I.R. Floortime/Intervention, Sensory Integration Therapy, Feeding Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Speech Therapy for Adults, Autism Swim Program, Individualized Therapeutic Autism Program, Lorraine and George Shadid Autism Resource Center in Peoria, Center for Autism Resources and Education in Bloomington, Social Skills groups, The Autism Program and much more. 

LaHood Center for Cerebral Palsy- The Ray LaHood Center for Cerebral Palsy is a comprehensive program in central Illinois for diagnostic, treatment, clinical research, community education, and support for children with cerebral palsy and their families.  As one of the community partners, Easter Seals offers comprehensive services for children with Cerebral Palsy including Assistive Technology Clinic, Orthotics and Serial Casting, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Physical Therapy , Occupational Therapy and much more.

Recreational Programming - Easter Seals offers programs and services to get children with disabilities and their families involved in activities including Splashersize, Lose the Training Wheels, Therapeutic Fitness Center, Reading & Math Tutoring, Parent's Night Out, Developmental Disabilities Program, The Penguin Project and much more.

Family Support Services - Easter Seals offers family support services for parents, siblings, caregivers, and other family members of children and adults with special needs.  Family support activities include:  Rehabilitation Coordination, Support Groups, Earth Project, Weatherization Assistance and much more.

Timber Pointe Outdoor Center - Easter Seals Timber Pointe Outdoor Center is a beautiful 170-acre facility located on Lake Bloomington.  With more than five miles of paths and roadways through hardwood and pine forests, this accessible camp offers a variety of camping, respite, educational, and recreational programs.

Adult Services - Easter Seals Decatur offers services for adults including Speech Therapy, Developmental Disabilities Program and AgrAbility Unlimited, Statewide Program.

Childcare - Easter Seals Decatur's child care center, Discovery Depot, offers a full service child care program for children with and without disabilities.

Client Financial Services - Easter Seals Client Financial Services specialists help you to fully understand your account and provide information regarding payment options and methods of funding.
